Probably for the sake of performance, the over the top and very "Vibrant" unit style was toned down a bit. Well to be fair, the hardcore fans disagree with alot of CA's artistic decisions. I really hope that when the game comes out, after a huge battle it looks and feels like something world changing has taken place. When I think Warhammer Fantasy, I imagine devastated landscapes and thousands of bodies strewn about. Effects will obviously be worked on, but the battle felt too 'clean', however that may just be because of the lack of Blood Pack. I am also curious about unit size, I counted 20x7 (140) for the human spearmen and I wonder if that is the largest unit setting. I definitely see some mosh-pitting, full-speed cavalry charges are underwhelming and aside from units being launched off their feet, there is a weightless quality to the hand-to-hand combat. However, unit cohesion, weight, "stickiness", momentum and inertia still look iffy. The chatter also benefits from the setting with humans crying out in shock and screaming orders like "bring it down". Those monstrous spiders look amazing, the giants have wobbling guts, the witch-hunter/warrior priest tag team is awesome as was the snipe of that giant with the luminark. I love the up front commentary ("we want cavalry to be punchier"), that honesty in what needs improving is far more reassuring than Rome 2's "EVERYTHING IS AMAZING". Unit animations look much faster and more fluid, units get thrown back and around and I love the orcs leaping into combat.
